The Pilgrim Tree, Lough Derg.
Acrylic on canvas
I pop to Lough Derg every now and then for a day to recharge the batteries. It is nice to be on an island where people have taken time out to clear their minds for centuries. There is a peace there that is hard to find anywhere else. This tree stands at the centre of the island. I wanted to capture it in an iconic way so that I could bring some of the calm home. I underpainted in light blue to complement the gold and help make the tree stand out. The leaf is a leaf from the tree.

Muckspreader, Wexford.
Acrylic on canvas
Coming On a long summers evening I came across this muckspreader standing majestically at the corner of a field. I had to paint it. When painting it I realised that half complete was finished. It is almost like it came from the landscape and may, if left long enough, rust back into it.
